“To address the CO2 emissions created by the manufacture of building materials, cultivating hemp runs parallel with our ‘green future objectives’. Grown throughout the world for millennia and commonly used throughout Eastern Europe and China, hemp agriculture is making a comeback”

Marcus McCabe, President
Hempire Building Materials Inc.

“We can no longer rely solely on the industrialized materials and building systems now in use given the enormity of their lifecycle impacts, embodied energy, and damage to the global climate. It is now critical that we invest in creating high performance, low-impact alternatives, including many traditional lower-tech building materials and systems. The utilization of local and minimally processed materials will be increasingly important as we develop a restoration economy for the 21st century.”

“Finding new and innovative uses for our flax and hemp will greatly benefit farmers and the economy in Western Canada,” said MP Bruinooge. “… Investment will enable farmers to adapt their growth and harvesting regimes to optimize fibre performance, increasing the demand for their crops and resulting in increased profitability.”
